If you’ve been searching for Minnesota wedding venues with real character, The 3 Ten Event Venue in Faribault is worth a serious look. Located in the historic district of downtown Faribault about an hour south of the Twin Cities, it’s one of the more distinctive Minnesota wedding locations I’ve had the chance to shoot at. Exposed limestone and brick walls, crystal chandeliers, original tin ceilings, and a wood dance floor that holds up to a full crowd. It’s a space that has a lot going for it before you even add a wedding to it.
The 3 Ten Ballroom is the main event space, and it’s genuinely versatile. High ceilings, warm brick, and the kind of ambient chandelier light that gives you a lot to work with as a photographer. The venue includes customizable LED downlighting on the walls, which means you can shift the mood from cocktail hour to reception without it feeling like the same room all night.
The space comfortably holds up to 250 guests with their included wood Chiavari chairs and harvest tables, but it doesn’t feel cavernous at a smaller count either. The layout naturally directs guests toward the dance floor, which is good for photographers and great for receptions.

A few things stood out shooting here as a Minnesota wedding photographer.
The brick and limestone walls are the backbone of almost every interior shot. Whether it’s a portrait, a detail photo, or a wide reception frame, there’s always texture and depth in the background that gives the images something to land on. You’re not working against a blank wall or a draped backdrop.
The first dance entry is particularly strong. There’s a natural path from the side of the room onto the dance floor that creates a real cinematic moment before the music even starts. The couple walking toward each other, guests on both sides, the chandeliers overhead. It’s one of those setups that consistently delivers.
The layered light is also worth mentioning. Between the chandeliers, the wall lighting, and what you can add with off-camera flash, you can build a lot of different looks in a single evening. The first dance photos from this wedding went black and white and felt classic. The reception shots later stayed warm and colorful and felt electric. Same room, same night, completely different registers.
The 3 Ten is a blank slate venue, which means the details couples bring in tend to photograph really well against the natural texture of the space. At this wedding, a custom wooden monogram sign hung against the limestone wall with Edison bulb string lights surrounding it. Simple detail, but the wall did all the compositional work. That’s the advantage of shooting in a space with strong bones.

The 3 Ten is located at 310 Central Avenue North in Faribault, MN, about an hour south of Minneapolis. They offer three distinct spaces: the Ballroom, the Rooftop Loft, and The Broz, which gives couples flexibility depending on their guest count and style. The venue includes tables, chairs, setup and teardown, a bartender, LED downlighting, and all-day access to getting ready suites. They also offer a Day of Coordination add-on if you want someone from the venue managing vendors and logistics on the day itself.
The 3 Ten has been a Best of Zola and The Knot award winner for several years running, which tracks with what I saw on the ground. The venue staff are organized and easy to work with, and the space was ready well before guests arrived.
Build time for the first dance entry. The approach to the dance floor is one of the best moments of the night. Don’t rush it. Let it unfold and give your photographer room to work both sides.
Use the brick walls. They’re everywhere and they’re great. Portrait locations against the stone and brick, especially with the wall lighting behind you, are some of the strongest images you’ll get inside the venue.
Don’t skip the details early. Before guests arrive and the room fills up, get your photographer in to document the space. The full ballroom with all the lighting set and no one in it yet is a strong image that tells the story of the venue.
Talk to your photographer about the wall lighting color. The downlighting is customizable, and the color you choose will affect how your photos look all night. Warm amber reads beautifully. Cooler tones can be tricky depending on your color palette.
The 3 Ten is one of those Minnesota wedding locations that attracts couples who want something that feels real and has some history to it without being stuffy. As one of the wedding photographers in Minnesota who has shot here, I’d say the venue delivers on that consistently. The architecture, the light, and the flow of the space all work in your favor.
If you’re considering The 3 Ten for your wedding and looking for Minnesota wedding photographers who know the venue, I’d love to hear from you.
